Liveable Kirkland Meetup & Work Party - Project: Assemble Bed Warmers for Tent City & Safe Parking Residents Mon, Sept 21, 6-8pm Chainline Brewing at Kirkland Urban At this special edition of our regular Monday Meetups, we'll begin by assembling microwaveable, re-useable bed warmers for tent city and safe parking residents. We'll measure out and add rice or whole feed corn to new socks and then tie them closed. Last winter, the organizers of the tent city encampment, Camp United We Stand, let us know of their need for bed-warmers for better health and quality of sleep. During the cold months of the year, it is very hard on their residents' health to have to warm up a cold sleeping bag and mattress each night with only their own body heat. At their request, we assembled and delivered microwaveable, re-usable bedwarmers for pre-warming their beds each evening. We were able to make enough to also supply the LWUMC Safe Parking Program, also. This year, we're providing bed-warmers again -- but this time at the beginning of fall so that the bed-warmers are available at the start of the cold weather season. After assembling these bed warmers, we'll have our usual socializing to discuss local events and issues. Drop in and bring friends, family, and neighbors! Okay to bring kids and food, too.
